I have recently become obsessed with Mala boat ramp. Not only is this structure beautiful above water, but the diving and life below the surface is amazing! Please continue to watch for more Mala shots!
Well summer has come and gone, but not without much enjoyment here in Hawaii. It was a hot one, but the Milky Way was out every night, the sunsets were spectacular, and the colors were vibrant! We're ready for a little cooler weather soon, but I must say, it was a great summer. Aloha all! It's Spring time in Maui! And since we're going through an El Nino weather pattern, there have been many cloudy and rainy days. However all rainy days tend to end with a killer sunset! I've been posting many sunsets lately and since the colors are amazing, why not keep doing it? I'll make it a point to get some blues and greens soon, but for now, orange and red are my colors. I also snapped a picture of a white hibiscus on a white rock sitting perfectly at sunset. My father was so touched by the symbolism of the photo, he wrote "I see the beautiful flower as lighted and blessed from above as the feminine and the strong and forceful rock which supports and defends it as the masculine. Together, they stand against the roiling, onrushing water regardless of the sure knowledge of their limited time to flourish as they enjoy their sunlit union and this precious moment in this perfect day." Thank you Dad!
October in the Hawaiian islands is our roughest month. I say that with a smile because it's still amazing. The winds slow to almost a stop and the volcanic haze drifts north and sits from the big island's volcano. It's a very humid, tough time for those, especially with breathing issues. There is a silver lining however. It makes for some incredible sunsets! I'm looking forward to November when the trade winds return and we can get some nice rain. And next will be the return of our favorite friends: the humpback whales! Here are some photos from October so far.
